Brief Description:

Massachusetts AFL–CIO would like to announce a scholarship program termed as “AFL-CIO Scholarship”. Students with a union affiliation are eligible for both the Massachusetts AFL-CIO awards and those awards that listed under their specific local union/central labor council. Through the scholarship program, the Massachusetts AFL-CIO is honored to continue a long tradition of helping students continue their education as they work toward creating bright futures.

Host Institution:

Massachusetts AFL–CIO is the Massachusetts state affiliate of the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO). It was founded in 1958. The Mass AFL-CIO is the umbrella organization for more than 750 local unions and intermediate bodies, such as joint boards and district councils, whose parent international unions are affiliated with the national AFL-CIO. It is one of 51 state federations operated under a charter granted by the AFL-CIO.

Eligibility:

This scholarship program is applicable for:

  • Students with a union affiliation are eligible for both the Massachusetts AFL-CIO awards and those awards listed under their specific local union/central labor council.
  • Massachusetts students that do not have union affiliation are eligible for the Massachusetts AFL-CIO scholarships only.
  • Students from other states are only eligible for scholarships offered by their affiliated local union that meet the union’s criteria. If you are unsure as to the specific criteria of your affiliated local union, see the Scholarship Book for more information.
