Brief Description:

Avila University provides scholarship opportunity to students with an unparalleled education with strong results. STEM scholarships are open for new freshmen students entering Avila University in fall 2018. When stacked with your other Avila scholarships your combination of scholarships can range from $10,000-$20,000 per year.

Host Institution:

Avila University is a private university in Kansas City, Missouri, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. It offers bachelor’s degrees in 36 majors and master’s degrees — Master of Science in Counseling Psychology, Master in Management, Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Organizational Development, and Master of Arts in Education. Its 13 buildings are situated on a campus of 50 acres (20.2 ha) in the heart of Kansas City.

Eligibility:

Applicants for the scholarship must meet each of the following requirements:

  • This scholarship program is for eligible students majoring in Biology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Computer Science and Software Engineering at Avila University.
  • Applicants must be U.S. Citizens, nationals, legal permanent residents or refugee aliens.
  • Must declare a major in one of the four S-STEM degree programs (Biology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Computer Science or Software Engineering).
  • Applicants must be full-time degree-track students.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a high level of financial need, as determined by the Director of Financial Aid and defined by the FAFSA.
  • Typical awardees have a minimum 24 ACT and 3.0 GPA.

Applicants must submit the following along with the application:

  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a high school math or science teacher.
    The letter of recommendation can be submitted by attaching it to the application form
  • Submit a short video (5 minutes) or essay (1-page double-spaced 10-pt font).
    In either format, introduce yourself and briefly discuss your personal and career goals and interests.
