Paradigm Challenge

The Paradigm Challenge invites children to use the skills of the STEM, paired with kindness, creativity, and collaboration to solve real-world problems. The competition invites students from around the world who are 4 to 18 years old at the time of applications. It’s an annual competition that inspires youth to address important social issues.

You are encouraged to apply if you are:

  • Students aged 4 to 18 (as of May 1, 2018) around the world are invited to enter, the Paradigm Challenge individually or as teams of any size.
  • The Challenge is not open to residents of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, the Crimea Region, and any other U.S. sanctioned country and is void where prohibited by law.

Award Amount:

Grand Prize Winner:  A team of four or more qualifying members that wins the Grand Prize will share $100,000 instead of the $10,000 first place prize.

Cash Prizes For Remaining 91 Finalists: The 91 Finalists who do not win a First Place prize, Second Place prize, Third Place prize, or the Grand Prize will share a cash prize of up to $200 per team. If a Finalist team has less than four qualifying members, each qualifying member will receive $50.

Finalist T-Shirts: Finalist team members will receive an official Finalist t-shirt. Project Paradigm may, in its discretion, limit the number of finalist t-shirts per team.

A trip to Los Angeles for the Paradigm Challenge Prize Ceremony: Up to four Participants from each First Place team (and a parent or guardian for each such Participant) will receive a 4-day/3-night trip to Los Angeles to celebrate and attend The Paradigm Challenge Prize Ceremony.

  • Hotel Accommodations
  • Ground Transportation
  • Limo Service to the Prize Ceremony
  • Tuxedo or Dress Allowance
  • Tickets to Disneyland, Universal Studios, or other fun Los Angeles experience to be announced
  • $500 Spending Cash (if a First Place team has less than four qualifying members who participate in the trip, each such Participant will receive $125 spending cash)

Public Voting: The 100 Finalists also will automatically be entered into and participate in a public voting competition between about June 1, 2018, and August 30, 2018. The 10 qualifying teams that receive the most qualifying votes will share the following cash awards (in addition to any cash prize described above):
