Brief Description:

The University of Richmond is pleased to announce the Richmond Scholars Program. In order to apply, all first-year admission applicants (incoming students) regular decision, early actions, and early decision, whose applications are on file by December 1, are considered automatically. The University’s goal each year is to enroll a well-rounded and dynamic first-year class, academically accomplished and diverse in every dimension.

Host Institution:

The University of Richmond (UR or U of R) is a private, nonsectarian, liberal arts college located in the city of Richmond, Virginia, with small portions of the campus extending into surrounding Henrico County. The UR was established in1830. The motto of the UR is – Verbum Vitae et Lumen Scientiae (Latin), Motto in English is – Word of life and the light of knowledge.

Eligibility:

Scholar Qualities- Regardless of designation, all Richmond Scholars demonstrate one or more of the following qualities:

  • Broad worldview

  • Exceptional talent in artistic expression
  • All applicants for admission who apply by December 1 are automatically considered for the Richmond Scholars Program.

Award Description:

The University’s most prestigious academic awards, these scholarships are given to 25 incoming students and include full tuition plus room and board. The Richmond Scholars Program includes these benefits:

  • Full-tuition scholarship, renewable for up to eight consecutive semesters of full-time enrollment, valued at approximately $181,000 over four years
  • Eligibility for a one-time $3,000 grant to support a student-selected activity that enhances the academic experience
  • Priority course registration and guaranteed on-campus housing
  • Specially selected faculty mentors to guide students and help them fulfill their potential
  • Special ticket vouchers to selected cultural events in the Modlin Center for the Arts
