Brief Description:

ScanCafe Inc. is pleased to offer the ScanCafe Scholarship Program. The program is open to18 years or older an American or Canadian citizen who has a high school diploma at the time of application. The scholarship program will provide financial assistance to one student this year who demonstrates knowledge, passion, and a promising future in photo curation, preservation, and photo scanning.

Host Institution:

ScanCafe Inc. was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Fishers, Indiana with an additional office in Indianapolis, Indiana.ScanCafeprovides image scanning and restoration services in the United States and internationally. It scans and digitally repairs images, including old photos, slides, prints, and negatives.


Applicants must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible:

  • Must have a high school diploma at the time of application.
  • Must be an American or Canadian citizen.
  • Will be 18 years or older during the fall semester.
  • You may apply if you are 17, but the scholarship will not be paid until you turn 18.
  • Only one unique entry per participant.

Instructions for Applying:

Students who would like to apply for the ScanCafe Scholarship should write an essay of approximately 1000 – 1,500 words on one or more of the topics below:

  • Photo preservation: an existential need.
  • Photo Scanning: an art or an industrial process?
  • Transforming a physical photo into a digital bit: a curse or a blessing?
  • Will a machine ever really understand a photo?
  • Photo Narration of the past and the present

Supporting Documents:

  • Submit an essay: They ask that you include the following information in your email: Name, Phone, Email, and School/University that you are attending or are planning to attend in the fall 2016 semester.
  • You are welcome to also include a brief introductory paragraph about yourself.
  • Students will be required to provide proof of university enrollment in order to claim the scholarship prize.
